My Position:
The 2019-2020 school year will mark my sixth year working as a sophomore humanities teacher at HTHCV, and I can't imagine being in a better campus or grade level! I began my journey with the organization seven years ago as an Academic Coach at the original High Tech High School. There I got to know many of the exciting teaching methods from our project-based learning system, as well as some of the wonderful students our schools have to offer. Six years ago I entered the HTH Teaching Credential Program and taught 10th grade Humanities at the same school. |
Education Background:
I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, and moved to San Diego in 2006 to attend UCSD. While there I studied Biological Anthropology and Political Science, completing my undergrad in 2010. I also interned at the San Diego Zoo, observing and recording the social interactions of their bonobo population.
After graduation I tutored and mentored for a special needs organization called Club Xcite in Del Mar, as well as assisted with a marketing campaign for a renewable energy company out of Pacific Beach.
My Passions:
Some of my hobbies include backpacking, reading, attending concerts and finding new music, hiking, scuba diving, drumming, hanging out with my tiny dog and obese cat, and above all traveling to new and exciting places. I've had amazing experiences backpacking through Europe, Asia and South America and can't wait to go exploring again soon. My favorite place I've ever visited is the island of Hvar in Croatia; below are some pictures from my various adventures. Feel free to ask me about any of my travel experiences, and I'm always happy to share and hear about yours!
I look forward to working with more incredible students of High Tech High Chula Vista, and encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns!
